Coinbase has signed a multi-year deal as the official crypto platform to the NBA, WNBA, G League, 2K League, and USA Basketball.
What’s the deal? Coinbase will be featured during televised games, as we witnessed live during yesterdays match already. The deal will consist of unique content creation, innovation, activations and experiences from Coinbase to educate fans on the advancements happening in the crypto economy.
This deal also marks the beginning of large corporations and platforms willing to invest in increasing the awareness and adoption of cryptocurrencies.
This announcement came just a week after Coinbase announced the launch of its NFT marketplace. Coinbase claims to have 1.6 Million people already on the waitlist for their marketplace.
“As a trusted cryptocurrency platform used by millions, Coinbase is a natural fit as the NBA’s first-ever partner in this thriving category. We look forward to collaborating with Coinbase to provide fans with new ways to engage with the league and each other while also enhancing the experience for fans who are already Coinbase users,” said Kerry Tatlock, Senior Vice President, Global Marketing Partnerships and Media, NBA.
The NBA has been experimenting with cryptocurrency and NFTs for a year, most notably through the NBA Top Shot platform built by Dapper Labs.
