Zuzalu, the first-of-a-kind event in Lustica Bay, Montenegro, is officially coming to an end after two epic months of pure awesomeness!
Zuzalu what? A pop-up city filled with around 200 brilliant minds, including crypto gurus, tech wizards, and longevity enthusiasts, all gathered in one place. They transformed themselves into the first citizens of a brand new civilization, leaving their old lives behind to envision a mind-boggling future for humanity. 🌍
And all thanks to Vitalik.
At Zuzalu, they dove deep into mind-bending topics like cryptocurrency, blockchain, AI, and the secrets of human longevity.
"Every single person here believes that they can change the world," Hannah Hamilton, co-founder of decentralised finance protocol Asymmetry.
They even considered creating a nation exclusively for the immortals - to address security concerns for that rarified population.
What does Vitalik say?
"I feel like a lot of people got into those things (longevity, crypto, AI, network states) at the same time. There's definitely a pretty significant cluster of the crypto space that's also interested in longevity, especially older Ethereum people.”
Also, Some clever Zuzalans (that's what they call themselves) brought a mountain of hyperinflated bolivars, Venezuelan currency that's practically worthless. But they didn't just hoard them; they turned these near-worthless bills into the hottest party invites in town. Mocked by some, these non-fungible tokens secured a spot at the gathering.
Guests without a bolivar were swiftly turned away, and if you brought a bolivar-less buddy, you had to surrender yours. The bolivars soon became valuable, and an app was even developed for virtual IDs based on their serial numbers, potentially creating a vouching system.
Is Ethereum better than Bitcoin tho?
Ethereum is the front-runner in terms of driving worldwide adoption and not Bitcoin according to 'Bitcoin Jesus.' (Bitcoin investor and advocate Roger Ver).
Despite Ethereum's scaling hurdles, Ver gave a shoutout to the rise of EVM-compatible blockchains and layer-2 scaling solutions like Polygon. Ver also provided an account of the "civil war" that occurred in the early days of Bitcoin between Ethereum's co-founder Vitalik Buterin and Bitcoin core developers, which eventually led to the development of Ethereum. Ver wasn't too thrilled with the Ledger Recover service, claiming that crypto's all about having complete control of your assets.

San Francisco-based wallet-as-a-service provider Magic has secured $52 Million in a funding round led by PayPal Ventures, bringing its total funds raised to over $80 Million.
Magic's software is used by brands in various industries, and with the funding, they aim to expand adoption, enhance functionality, and deepen integration in the European Union and Asia-Pacific region. By using Magic's software development kit, vendors can enable users to create wallets using existing logins, and the platform complies with various regulations. Since its founding in 2020, Magic has generated over 20 Million unique wallets and is utilised by more than 130,000 developers. The funding round reflects the growing interest and investments in crypto and Web3 wallet providers.
